How to watermark a PDF
- Open your PDF.
- Type the watermark text and adjust the angle, colour, opacity and size.
- Check the preview of page 1, then click Add watermark and download.
Choosing settings
- Opacity 15–25% keeps the page readable while making the watermark obvious.
- Diagonal is the traditional style and hardest to crop out.
- Red draws attention (DRAFT, VOID); grey is subtler (CONFIDENTIAL, SAMPLE).
How secure is a watermark?
A watermark signals that a document is a draft or confidential, and discourages casual sharing, but it isn’t locked: someone with PDF editing software could remove the text. To make it much harder to remove, convert the watermarked PDF to images with PDF to JPG and back with JPG to PDF, which flattens the watermark into the page (text will no longer be selectable).

Is my PDF uploaded?
No. The PDF is processed inside your browser, so it never leaves your device. That makes it safe for contracts, bank statements, medical letters and other private documents.
Can someone remove the watermark?
The watermark is added as a separate layer of text, so someone with PDF editing software could remove it. For stronger protection, convert the watermarked PDF to images with PDF to JPG, which merges the watermark into the page.
Can I use an image or logo?
Not yet. Only text watermarks are supported.
Why did some letters turn into “?”
PDF’s built-in fonts only cover Western European alphabets, so letters from other scripts can’t be drawn.
