How to rotate or flip images

Fixing photos that appear sideways
Phones usually save photos in the orientation of the camera sensor and add a hidden “rotate me” instruction. Photo apps follow it, but some websites, printers and older programs ignore it, so the photo appears sideways. This tool applies that instruction first, then your rotation, and saves the pixels the right way round, so the image looks correct everywhere.
Mirroring selfies
Front cameras often save selfies mirrored, so text on clothing or signs reads backwards. Flip horizontal corrects it.
Quality
Images keep their format. JPG and WebP images are re-saved at 95% quality, which is visually identical, and PNG images are lossless. To trim edges as well, use the Image Cropper.

Why does my photo look sideways in some apps but not others?
Phones often store the photo sideways and add a note saying how to rotate it. Some apps ignore that note. Saving it here bakes the correct rotation into the pixels, so it looks right everywhere.
Does rotating reduce quality?
JPG images are re-saved at high quality (95%), so the change is not visible. PNG images are lossless and keep every pixel.
What does flipping horizontally do?
It mirrors the image left to right, like a reflection. This is useful for selfies, where text appears backwards.
